Description : The problem : Wazemi adresses the problem of congestion and negative externalities due to intensive traffic jams

The solution : Founded in 2017 by Torres PICHOU, Wazemi is a carpooling platform that connects car and moto drivers to people in need of a ride in Benin.

State of development : Since its launch in 2017, Wazemi registered 1000 subscribers but no more than 100 people are active on the platform. The 4 team members of Wazemi are planning to launch an awareness campaign on 15 university campuses in big cities of the country to promote carpooling and its benefit to the environment and people’s everyday life. To do so a training will be organized to the school representatives.

Business model: Wazemi receives subscription but doesn’t get commissions on trips.

Ambitions: Wazemi wants to contribute to the reduction of the ever-increasing number of vehicles in circulation in order to influence the battle against environmental pollution in major African cities.

Appreciation: Wazemi has strong ambitions but haven’t significantly gather an active community around carpooling. A serious lack of funds and communication strategy could be the obstacle since its launch.
