Double-Articulated Minibus
The double-articulated minibus is a solution to allow for more performant urban bus services on more narrow streets
Until now, the needs for efficient bus operation contradict to goals of urbanism as regular urban bus lines operated by standard 12m long rigid buses require more lane width than other vehicles. This makes on one hand less space available for pedestrians, cyclists and urban greening and on the other hand, many neighborhoods can't be optimally served by public transport as narrow roads can be used only by low-capacity minibuses or not at all.
The bi-articulated minibus is only 1,85 m wide, but 18 m long and can operate on very narrow roads. It has the same capacity as a 12 m long rigid bus. As weight is divided over more axles, it reduces wear and tear of the road surface significantly.
